Happy October! This month my goal is to finish over half of my original work and find an official mentor for the year. I am still working on interviewing more professionals to be my mentor but I hope to come to a finalized decision soon. My original work proposal was due on Friday and I plan to create a consulting plan for a fictional “client” with five issues that I need to solve. I am extremely excited to begin my research. I emailed Mr. Allen from one of my research interviews to ask about any frequent business consulting problems that he has to solve and he responded to me immediately! Now that I have some potential problems, I will work on finding solutions and then meet with Mr. Allen again to review my progress.

Business Symposium, on October 2nd, was such an educational opportunity for me. From a resume/goal-setting workshop to networking with both professionals and other ISM students, I can confidently say that I have received valuable feedback to help me in the future. At the symposium, I met two extremely kind women. Mrs. Carey is the Director of Innovative Learning at FISD and we connected over our passion for tutoring students. She offered for me to become the first student tutor in her RAIL tutoring program! She said that I should work on my handshake, which I feel is rather weak. Mrs. Chaney Muench is the President of CMSports and advised me to make the most of my bilingual abilities and pursue a job in international business. I will definitely take this into consideration in the future when developing my career! Her feedback was for me to not play with my hair as much and I agree with that as well. I am so thankful that ISM has allowed me to connect with so many adults and improved my interviewing abilities for my future.
