Happy April! A new month means new beginnings and a time for change. This month I want to be more positive about the COVID-19 situation and utilize this extra time I have been given wisely. For example, in ISM I hope to take advantage of this time and really catch up on fixing my website, my product, and attend all of Mr. Allen’s webinars.
Speaking of webinars, this week was a particularly interesting one. The guest speaker for the week was Mr. Dustin Paschal, an attorney at Simon Paschal PLLC. He was invited to give advice to the business owners on how to respond to the coronavirus and the new laws that were passed. Trump’s Family First Act, in response to COVID-19, requires paid sick leave and the business owners were unsure of how to comply with the law so quickly. Mr. Paschal explained that the law goes into effect April 01, but will not be strictly regulated until April 18th giving the owners some wiggle room. I think that in discussing the steps business owners should take to make a safer workplace, and how to not get taken advantage by employees showed me the way the virus is affecting small businesses. Previously, I didn’t realize how it would impact small businesses on an internal side, but this webinar showed me the behind the scenes of what owners must do to protect themselves and their business.
