This week in ISM I have been focusing on my Original Work. After my meeting with Mr. Rich Allen, I changed the final product a little because I realized I am mainly consulting on two separate issues rather than three. I am excited to present my product to the class because it is coming along very well. This week I created a logo for Euphoria! Bars, made a team-building events calendar, and have a finalized plan of how/what I need to do in order to complete the project. My final product will essentially be various flow charts, calendars, papers, and bullet pointed suggestions that will all accumulate into helping solve any problems for Euphoria! Bars.
On Tuesday of the previous week, I also gave my research speech! I am extremely happy about my powerpoint slides and am glad that I have chosen a central color scheme for all of my ISM related things. I was initially worried that I would talk for over ten minutes, but when I got up there and began speaking, my final time was just under nine minutes! This shows me that I need to talk slower when presenting in front of an audience and that I need to aim for the maximum time rather than the minimum time for future speeches so I can be within the time slot we are graded on. After my speech, Coach Goff told me to speak up and project my voice to the back of the room. Personally, I thought I was speaking plenty loud, but this just goes to show how inaccurate our own measures may be. Another minor adjustment that I will make after my speech is to increase the font sizes of my powerpoint so people in the back can still read my presentation! Overall, I learned a lot from the research speech and am glad that it was a success.
